Rice Advises Cain Not to Play ‘Race Card’

Condoleezza Rice, who served as Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, is giving GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain some unsolicited and free advice: “Don’t play the race card” in what looks like a game of high stakes poker with the national media. “I actually am someone who doesn’t believe in playing the race card on either side,” Rice said in an interview on CBS’ “The Early Show” that aired on Wednesday. I’ve seen it played, by the way, on the other side quite a lot too. And it’s not good for the country.” Cain has been under intense pressure since Monday when Politico wrote a story saying that two former female employees who worked under him when he was the head of the National Restaurant Association had left the group with a severance package and confidentially clause in an agreement over sexual harassment charges levied at Cain. Cain initially denied any knowledge of the incidents, but has slowly recovered is memory and is now recalling tidbits of information as the story continues to unfold. Eric Cantor ‘Booed’ While Exercising ‘Free Speech’ at Univ. of Michigan

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) received a somewhat less-than-enthusiastic reception from some protesters when he expressed his support for the Defense of Marriage Act while addressing a crowd of about 350 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Monday. At the completion of Cantor remarks, the Virginia congressman was asked: “How do you reconcile your position with states rights and the Constitution and your support of the Defense of Marriage Act?” “I’ve always been very straightforward about this. I just believe in traditional marriage between a man and a woman,” said Cantor. What came next may have been of little surprise to anyone, but believe it or not, Cantor was booed from several members of the audience. Some even protested by turning their backs to him with messages taped to the back of their clothing, saying, “Shame on you Eric Cantor.” Read the rest of the post here: http://blogs.christianpost.com/churn/2011/11/eric-cantor-booed-while-exercising-free-speech-at-univ-of-michigan-01/

Perry Says Participation in Debates was ‘Mistake’

Campaign debates, be they for the presidency of the U.S. or for school board, give voters a way to compare candidates side-by-side, similar to going to a used car lot as you’re deciding whether to buy the Ford 150 pickup truck or the fuel-efficient Toyota Prism. Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who is trying to resurrect this now dismal poll numbers is now saying that participating in the recent GOP presidential debates was a “mistake.” There’s no doubt that Perry is a skilled and experienced politician. On more than one occasion he’s dealt with the rough and tumble world of hardball Texas politics and lived to tell about it. But Perry doesn’t seem to share the same enthusiasm for national politics. "These debates are set up for nothing more than to tear down the candidates. It's pretty hard to be able to sit and lay out your ideas and your concepts with a one-minute response," the Texas governor told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly. "So, you know, if there was a mistake made, it was probably ever doing one of the [debates], when all they're interested in is stirring up between the candidates instead of really talking about the issues that are [...]

What Mormons Really Believe

I bet I  know what you're thinking. Hasn't this issue gone away? I mean, we've beat this horse until there's not much left. During the Value Voters summit in Washington a few weeks ago, Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, while being interviewed by a reporter, said Mormonism was a cult and that Mitt Romney was not a Christian. Yeah, I have an opinion on that too. After a few thousand stories written from just about every angle possible, the issue kind of came and went. But not really. Sara Devinish, a fellow reporter at The Christian Post wrote a wonderful three-part series on "What Mormons Really Believe." She did a great job covering the issue and I think part two of the series is the most informative since she interviews a former member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They don't like to be called Mormons by the way. http://www.christianpost.com/news/what-do-mormons-believe-ex-mormon-speaks-out-part-two-58494/ Why is the issue still important? There are many reasons but the one I feel most important is because if Mitt Romney is fortunate enough to win the GOP nomination, then the same left-leaning media pundits who are so carefully defending him now, will do a "180" and [...]

Cain’s Abortion Misstep

Herman Cain is quickly learning that mistakes need to be rare, if not nonexistent, especially when it comes to explaining your position on key issues – and in GOP circles, abortion is a real “key” issue. Cain appeared on CNN Wednesday night and in an interview with Piers Morgan, made a statement on abortion that seemed to contradict his previous, pro-life position. “I believe that life begins at conception. And abortion – under no circumstances,” said Cain. However, Morgan proceeded to ask Cain it he would support an exception for rape and incest. “The government shouldn’t be trying to tell people everything to do, especially when it comes to a social decision that they need to make,” Cain said.
