Bob Yeiser: Hardin County’s Captain Has Sailed Away

A few years ago I wrote a piece about a local Matriarch whose death left a void in the lives of so many in her community. For those of us who grew up in the late 1960s, 70s, and 80s in Savannah, Tennessee – especially in or around Yeiser subdivision – she was a fixture in our lives. Now we have lost a well-respected gentleman in Robert Hurst Yeiser. Bob or “Captain,” as he was affectionally known, possessed so many of the traits I admire in a man. His passing leaves a void few men of this modern era are qualified to fill. Bob was a product of Tennessee and proudly carried his birthright. He was born in Wayne County but made Hardin County home. Bob graduated from High School in East Tennessee in 1949, before his military service interrupted college. After serving for a few years in the Army, he continued his education at the University of Tennessee and was a proud Sigma Chi. I never heard Bob talk about his military service. Everyone who uses Facebook, whether for social or business purposes, has noticed changes to their news feed. There are a ton of buzzwords thrown around when you read and discuss social media strategies and metrics. So many that it’s easy to be intimidated by the jargon. Crisis Communications: Prepare Before, Not During a Crisis

Do you have a well thought out and written plan in place if a catastrophe or crisis impacts you or your organization in the next ten seconds? Chances are you don’t. Congratulations if you do. Let’s be honest; dealing with a major crisis is not something we care to think about. As I write this article, a number of high profile celebrities including actors, executives, athletes and political figures are making the news over sexual harassment allegations.
